Of course, one of the most important things about this site is the ability to "talk" things through with others who are likely to be working though similar experiences. We are convinced that the opportunity for sharing experience, and mutual support and learning within the community is a major benefit to users. Certainly, all of the experience we have had in our initial site testing, confirms that this is so.

We have developed 2 opportunities for discussion. You will find these under

Bulletin Board (BBS) - In the context of an on-line discussion, a Bulletin Board is a system that allows the posting of threaded discussions or "threads", which are a series of messages that have been posted as replies to each other. Any one major topic may typically contain a number of "threads" covering different and specific subjects within, or related to, the major topic area. By reading each message in a thread, one after the other, you can see how the discussion has evolved,   pick up on the information you wish to acquire, and join in on the conversation should you wish to do so. You can also start a new thread by posting a message that is not a reply to an earlier message. Threaded discussions do not necessarily flow, as in a chat room or telephone call, and the interaction may well involve different parties coming into and out of the conversation, over what could be quite lengthy periods of time. To view, take part in or start a new thread, click here.
Chat - This is real-time communication between two or more users via their computer links. Once a chat has been initiated, any of the users can enter text by typing on the keyboard, and the text will appear on the other users' monitor. These exchanges are typically public,   but individuals or groups can agree to enter a private chat room if they wish to do so. Also, although we have set up a number of different subject areas within each facility, members can normally create their own additional subject forums if that becomes necessary.

Both of these forums have initially been set up with separate Threads or Chat Rooms covering the following areas, although we anticipate that the forums will begin to take their own shape over time and as particular themes develop from the membership. The subject areas within both forums are currently set up under the following subject areas:
